Quotable Monday

GG: Do you believe in sin?

OBAMA:Yes.

GG:What is sin?

OBAMA:Being out of alignment with my values.

-Barack Obama, from 2004 interview by Cathleen Falsani "God Girl" (GG), then-religion reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times

Too funny! I followed the link to the transcript and found this Q & A also quite fascinating:

GG:
"Do you pray often?"

OBAMA:
"Uh, yeah, I guess I do.
Its’ not formal, me getting on my knees. I think I have an ongoing conversation with God. I think throughout the day, I’m constantly asking myself questions about what I’m doing, why am I doing it."

Rereading that response, it seems that Obama may fancy himself God as his ongoing conversation with "God" is really just an ongoing conversation with himself. ???? ;-)

Perfect- if the definition of sin is left to one's personal opinion, then actually talking with/listening to God might kind of mess up that system. It does seem that Obama's whole concept of God is very, shall we say, eclectic? He has added on here and taken away there to make God to be just who he wants him to be...
